Board of Directors
Seven Counties Services, Inc. is governed by a board of directors composed of citizen volunteers from each of the counties within our region. Board members provide overall policy guidance and recommendations about Seven Counties' programs to meet our mission, and also serve as advocates for Seven Counties, its staff, clients and their family members; and the communities Seven Counties serves. Terms of office are for four years, and board members can serve no more than two consecutive four-year terms. Besides attending monthly board meetings, members are assigned to various committees including Executive Committee (board officers and committee chairs); Finance; Program Planning and Evaluation; Personnel/Staff Development; Community Education and Advocacy; Nominating; Rural; and Alcohol and Drug.
The Board of Directors meets on the last Thursday of every month for approximately two hours (3:00-5:00, at our IT Building at 11001 Bluegrass Parkway); members are also expected to serve on at least two committees, most of which meet for approximately 90 minutes a month. There are various functions during the year that board members are expected to support/attend (NAMI Walk in Louisville; community dinners; Seven Counties' TalentFest, etc.). At this time, and for the foreseeable future, one of our board’s major goals is to increase advocacy efforts with local, state and federal elected officials, as well as business and community leaders, to help them understand issues facing persons with behavioral health concerns. There are a number of exciting opportunities ahead, and we are looking for dynamic, active community leaders to help achieve our goals. All in all, board members should expect to be involved in meetings and activities for a minimum of eight hours per month. Travel expenses will be reimbursed, upon request.
The only monetary commitment required of board members is a donation through Seven Counties to Metro United Way; members may donate $5 or $500, just as long as they make a donation. At other times during the year, members may be asked for a voluntary contribution (donation to help purchase Christmas gifts for consumers in our clubhouses, for example.).
The meetings are open to the public; anyone wishing to address the board should contact our Executive Offices at (502) 589-8600 #1296 at least two weeks prior to the meeting.
If you are interested in a position on our board, contact Karen McMillan at (502) 736-3080 #1296 or e-mail her at kmcmillan@sevencounties.org.
