Dr. Scott Hedges Recognized Among Health Care Heroes
We are proud to share that our esteemed Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Scott Hedges, MD, FAPA, has been recognized as a 2021 Health Care Hero in the Manager category by Louisville Business First!
Louisville Business First’s annual Health Care Heroes program features medical professionals who go above and beyond to care for their patients and the community. The program honors those who have impacted health care in our community through their concern for patients, research, innovation, management skills, and rising stars in the field. Additionally, this year really shined a light on the importance of hard work, innovation, and compassion during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Hedges was one of five healthcare professionals recognized in the Manager category. This award honors leaders ranging from the head of a small company or organization to an executive in a major health system.
This prestigious award is a testament to Dr. Hedges’ unwavering commitment, exceptional leadership, and significant contributions to our organization and the healthcare community at large. His dedication to advancing patient care, coupled with his exemplary management skills, sets a remarkable standard in the healthcare industry. About Dr. Hedges
In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hedges oversees our medical services, nursing services, pharmacy services, and laboratory services. His key responsibility is to serve as the liaison between the clinical side and the business side of our organization. He also serves as a resource to our Board of Directors and participates in public advocacy for behavioral health, substance use, and intellectual disability issues.
Additionally, Dr. Hedges works with several other leaders to ensure our clinical performance, financial performance, and organization meet local, state, and federal regulations. He is also the primary investigator for several research projects and serves as a gratis faculty member at the University of Louisville Department of Psychiatry.
In an interview with Louisville Business First, Dr. Hedges shared a highlight from his career was working with Louisville’s response to Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005. “Louisville was designated as one of the cities that would be host to displaced citizens from New Orleans,” he said. “The Health Department reached out to see if we could help provide trauma and behavioral health services to the receiving area. We worked with the Health Department, the Red Cross, and the National Guard and provided the best hospitality and care we could. Alongside the Red Cross, there were church groups from all over the city feeding and clothing our visitors. I was proud of our city.”
Dr. Hedges’ recognition as a Health Care Hero is a well-deserved acknowledgment of his outstanding efforts and positive impact on the well-being of individuals in our community. We are proud to have him as a leader of Seven Counties Services!
